Further information

The Capuchin monastery in Dornach was built between 1674 and 1676. In 1990, the remaining Capuchins were forced to leave the monastery due to a lack of new recruits. The canton of Solothurn transferred the right of use to the Dornach Monastery Foundation, established in 1996. Following a referendum in June 1999, the transfer of ownership to the foundation was finalised. Today, Dornach Monastery is a religious, social and cultural centre, featuring a hotel, a restaurant, a monastery shop, as well as banquet and seminar rooms. The monastery church is now used by the Evangelical Reformed Church, the Roman Catholic Church and the Christian Catholic Church for religious services and can also be hired for weddings.
