Further information
Built in 1952 by Frédéric Gilliard and Jean-Pierre Cahen, the concrete chapel is situated in a densely populated neighbourhood, between the railway station and Saint-François. In recent years, the number of worshippers in the Lausanne Christian Science community has fallen sharply and the spacious premises have been left unused (notably a 450-seat worship hall and a 200-seat Sunday school). Following an initial project that fell through a few years ago, a private investment fund pledged in 2015 to purchase the building (listed as Grade 3 in the architectural register) on condition that it could be demolished to make way for housing and a small place of worship. This latest project was approved by the city in 2017, but work has not yet begun.
