Further information

Following the closure of the Sonnegg Chapel at the end of June 2011, the Evangelical Methodist parish of Höngg moved its services to the Methodist church in Oerlikon. The sale of this place of worship was due to a decline in the number of worshippers within a parish characterised by an ageing population. The history of the Methodists in the Zurich district of Höngg dates to 1876. In 1918, the Methodist congregation of Wipkingen acquired a building plot in the former wine-growing village and had the Sonnegg Chapel built there. Since August 2011, the ‘Brethren Movement’, a Free Church, has been renting this chapel. This Christian community has been established in Zurich for 100 years and had been meeting on Kanzleistrasse for 35 years.
